IHC Dredgers regularly utilises the facilities of other IHC Merwede Shipyards as well those of preferred suppliers and shipyards abroad. This working method can take several shapes and extent, dependent on agreements, delivery schedules and the partner's experience with the concerning product. It can include for example the supply of drawing packages and building descriptions and/or the design and supply of vital hardware such as dredgepums, control systems, etc. It is also possible to cooperate in defined areas such as engineering and commissioning, or to expect turnkey delivery of the complete vessel from the partner - and all other variants imaginable.
In 2008 IHC Merwede received orders for the construction of two large trailing suction hopper dredgers. The two TSHDs for the Yangtze Estuary Waterway Administration Bureau are identical and they have each a hopper capacity of 12,000m3. The first ship will be built at IHC Dredgers in Kinderdijk and completion is planned for the first six months of 2012. The second ship will be built under the supervision of International Dredgers Heusden (IDH) at a foreign construction site. Completion is planned for early 2013.
